Our 100% Grass Fed and Grass Finished stew/kebab meat is lean, flavorful, and packed with nutrients like Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. It's the perfect choice for a hearty stew, a rich chili, or any other dish that calls for tender, juicy beef. You can feel good knowing that the stew you’re serving your family has no antibiotics, no added hormones, and no artificial additives.

Heartstone Farm's Stew/Kebab Meat is cut from the tougher, more muscular parts of the cow, such as the round or chuck. This makes it ideal for slow-cooking methods like braising or stewing, which help break down the meat's fibers and result in a tender, flavorful dish.

FAQs

Q: How should I cook stew meat?

To get the most out of your stew meat, we recommend cooking it low and slow with plenty of liquid, aromatics, and seasonings. You can use a slow cooker, Dutch oven, or any other large pot with a tight-fitting lid. Start by searing the meat on all sides to develop a rich, brown crust, then add your vegetables and liquid and simmer gently for several hours, until the meat is tender and falling apart.

Q: What makes Heartstone Farm's 100% Grass-fed Stew Meat better than other grassfed beef options?

At Heartstone Farm, we take pride in raising our animals in a way that's sustainable, humane, and truly farm-to-table. Our cows are never given antibiotics, added hormones, or artificial additives, and are raised on a diet of 100% grass and hay. We believe that this results in a healthier, more flavorful meat that's better for you and the planet. Plus, because we own and operate our own farm, we can ensure that every step of the process is done with care and attention to detail.

Cooking Tips

  • Brown the meat first: To develop rich, complex flavors, be sure to brown the stew meat on all sides before adding it to your stew or soup. This step also helps seal in the juices and keep the meat tender.
  • Use plenty of liquid: Stew meat needs to cook in a liquid to become tender and flavorful, so be sure to add enough liquid to cover the meat by at least an inch. Water, broth, or wine are all great options.
  • Don't overcook the vegetables: While it's important to cook the stew meat until it's tender, you don't want to overcook the vegetables. Add them to the stew during the last hour or so of cooking to ensure that they retain their texture and flavor.
  • Let it rest before serving: Once your stew is cooked, be sure to let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and the meat to absorb more of the liquid, resulting in a more delicious and cohesive dish.

What do we mean by 100% Grass Fed?

Our beef is 100% grass fed and grass finished. That means our cattle only eat grass. No corn, no grain, no animal by products -just grass.

In the growing season, they feed on the pastures of our 500 acre farm. In the winter, they eat the hay (grass) we harvested from our fields in the summer.

Beware of supermarket beef labeled "grass fed." Most factory-farmed, supermarket beef is fed grain (mainly corn) in the last few months before slaughter (even when it’s labeled “grass-fed”). While grain will fatten cattle up quickly, it can also make them sick because grains are not their natural feed.

That's why knowing the farmer who raised your meat is so important.

When we say 100% grass fed we mean 100%.

A Note From Farmer Dan

Beef stew is such an easy dish to make. It’s truly “set it and forget it.” And here’s something you probably already know - the leftover taste even better.
