SHIPPING & DELIVERY

We ship all orders on Wednesday. Orders placed by Tuesday at noon ship the same week. Order placed after Tuesday at noon ship the next week. We ship via FedEx with 1-2 day shipping.

We're good at packing our orders so your meat arrives frozen. We use compostable insulated containers and plenty of dry ice to keep your meat super cold. Sometimes there are delays in delivery, however, and your meat could thaw. So long as your meat is "refrigerator cold" when you unpack it, it is safe. It can be put in the refrigerator and cooked within 3-5 days, or it can be refrozen.

While we pack your order with plenty of dry ice, there are times that it might get delayed in transit a day or two. Inspect your meat as soon as you can after your box is delivered.  It is safe - and can even be refrozen - as long as it is "refrigerator cold" - meaning it feels as cold to the touch as it would if it came right out of your refrigerator (41 degrees). If it is warmer than that, please notify us and we will replace or refund your order.

While this is rare, once in a while this happens!

You received an email that says FedEx delivered your order, but you didn't receive it.

Most of the time it is one of two things - either it was accidentally delivered to the wrong address (usually a neighbor) or they left it in a location at your house that is different than where you usually receive packages (often the result of a new delivery driver).

We suggest you check around your house - you'd be amazed at how often this happens. And, if you can't find it, let us know. If it's been delivered to the wrong address, a neighbor will usually bring it over to you - or they'll notify FedEx.

Nobody's perfect - and that's definitely the case with UPS and FedEx - especially since Covid. Occasionally orders will be delayed 1-3 days on their way to you. We know this can happen and we pack your order with that in mind. We use insulated packaging and dry ice to insure that your meat arrives in good condition - even if it takes a slight detour on the road to you. In the (very) rare instance where an order is delayed more than 1-2 days. in transit, please contact us by email or phone (207) 424-0063.

If your order is delayed (or even lost) enroute, and your meat is spoiled or lost, we will replace it or refund you.

We deliver to 27 states, but that means we don't offer delivery to 23 states. Unfortunately we do not currently have a way to ship to other locations. The problem is the cost and the risk. To ship beyond our footprint, we would need to use overnight delivery. Even though we have negotiated good rates with FedEx, it is still too costly. Additionally, the risk (to us) of losing the beef we raised for 2 years is too great. Hopefully, at some point soon, we will be able to take another look at this.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide in person pick up.

COOKING YOUR MEAT

There are two methods we use for defrosting our meat - and this applies to beef, chicken and lamb.

The first method  is in the refrigerator. This can be used for any cut - whether it's a roast or a whole chicken or a steak. The defrosting time will vary. For roasts or whole chickens, it can be 2-3 days. For steaks, or ground beef or chicken breasts or thighs, it can be 1-2 days.  Once defrosted, your meat should be consumed within 2-3 days.

The other method is using a bowl of cold water on your kitchen counter. This method can be used for steaks, ground meat, burger patties or chicken parts. First make sure that there are no tears in the packaging of the meat. Fill a bowl of water with cool water (not warm) and put your meat in its sealed package in the bowl of water. Every 20-30 minutes you can refresh the water. Or you can put the bowl in the sink and let a small trickle of cool water run into the bowl. After 45 - 90 minutes you meat will be defrosted and ready to cook.

ABOUT OUR MEAT

We are not "certified" organic. However, all of our practices are consistent with organic guidelines. For instance, we do not treat our pastures with fertilizer (other than the manure deposited by our cattle). Nor do we use antibiotics.

The reason we are not "certified" is just a matter of cost. Getting certified is expensive. As a small family farm we have to watch every dollar - and make choices about where to spend our resources.

If you have any questions about any of our practices, please email or call us.

PAYMENT & ORDERING

At checkout (not in your cart), you will have an opportunity to put in your discount code or gift card number.  On the right hand side below order summary there will be a box for you to enter and apply the discount code.

If your discount code is not working, you can do the following:

  1. Make sure the discount code is typed in exactly as it appears. Discount codes are case sensitive
  2. Go ahead and place your order - without the discount code - and let us know. We will issue you a refund for the discount you should have received.

Also, you can only use one discount code with each order. For instance, if there is an automatic discount, you can not use another discount code on top of the automatic discount.

If you have any other issues, please contact us using this form.

Yes - we'll be glad to notify you as soon as something is back in stock. On the product page with the item that is out of stock, you'll find a button that says "Email When Available." Click that button and sign up for email notification when an item is back in stock.

Yes you can. Some of our customers just like old-fashioned actually talking to a real person when they order - and we're good with that. Or sometimes people are nervous about their credit card info. Whatever the reason, you can call in your order and we'll be there for you. (207) 897-1780
