I think they (finally) got the food pyramid right
Did you happen to see the new government food pyramid that was rolled out last week?
(These days, it seems there’s a political angle to everything, even the food we eat. But this blog isn’t about politics. I promise. Politics is the last thing I want to write about.)
It is about the new food pyramid.
And honestly, I like it. I think it’s a long-overdue fix to the old one.

For decades, the old food pyramid pushed people toward more grains, more processed carbohydrates, and less of the foods humans have eaten for thousands of years. Things like beef, butter, eggs, seafood, and poultry were pushed to the margins or treated like something to avoid.
That advice didn’t age well.
Obesity went up. Type 2 diabetes exploded. And people were left confused about what “healthy” even meant.
The new pyramid puts animal protein and healthy fats back where they belong. As foundational foods. Not guilty pleasures. Not something to eat “once in a while.” But real nourishment. (Want to learn more? Here's a link to the full text of the new guidelines - LINK)
And no, I’m not saying this just because I’m a farmer.
I’m saying it because when you strip away trends, politics, and marketing, one thing remains true: real food sustains people better than processed food ever will.
That’s the entire idea behind why I started Heartstone Farm
Not fads. Not food engineered in a lab. Just meat you can trust, raised the way it always should have been..
