FAQs

Q: Where do Heartstone Farm's 100% Grass Fed Porterhouse Steaks come from?

Our Porterhouse Steaks are sourced directly from our farm, where our cattle graze on nutrient-dense grasses and clovers year-round.

Q: How are the Porterhouse Steaks aged and processed?

Our Porterhouse Steaks are dry-aged to perfection and expertly cut to ensure optimal tenderness and flavor. They're perfect for grilling or pan-searing.

Q: Are these Porterhouse Steaks healthier than store-bought beef?

Absolutely! Our cattle are raised on a natural, grass-based diet, resulting in beef that's lower in fat and higher in beneficial nutrients like Omega-3 fatty acids.

Q: How many steaks should I order for a dinner with six guests?

We recommend one steak of 16 oz. per guest.

Cooking Tips

  • Let the steak sit at room temperature for 30 minutes prior to cooking.
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Preheat a grill, cast-iron skillet, or broiler to high heat.
  • Sear the steak on each side for 2-3 minutes until a nice crust forms.
  • Reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking to your preferred doneness - use a meat thermometer(120°F for rare, 125-135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium).
  • Alternatively, finish cooking the steak in the pan in your 350°F oven for 5-10 minutes, checking doneness frequently
  • Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
  • For added flavor, consider brushing the steak with compound butter or topping it with sautéed mushrooms or onions.
  • Remember that grass-fed beef cooks faster than conventional beef, so keep a close eye on the internal temperature to avoid overcooking.

What do we mean by 100% Grass Fed?

Our beef is 100% grass fed and grass finished. That means our cattle only eat grass. No corn, no grain, no animal by products -just grass.

In the growing season, they feed on the pastures of our 500 acre farm. In the winter, they eat the hay (grass) we harvested from our fields in the summer.

Beware of supermarket beef labeled "grass fed." Most factory-farmed, supermarket beef is fed grain (mainly corn) in the last few months before slaughter (even when it’s labeled “grass-fed”). While grain will fatten cattle up quickly, it can also make them sick because grains are not their natural feed.

That's why knowing the farmer who raised your meat is so important.

When we say 100% grass fed we mean 100%.

A Note From Farmer Dan

I think our Porterhouse Steaks have the beefiest flavor of any of our steaks. I’ve had lots of steakhouse restaurant steaks - and I think ours are right up there among the best.
