"I guarantee these will be the best-tasting scallops you've ever had." - Farmer Dan

Scallops harvested in December - available to ship the week of Jan. 6. Pre-order now to reserve yours.

These incredibly sweet and tender local flash-frozen scallops are harvested in cold Gulf of Maine waters by Maine fishermen we know and trust. Our scallops are sold in 1-lb flash-frozen packs. The perfect entree, we love to sear them and add to a pasta or salad!  These scallops are pure, "dry" dayboat scallops, which means that they are not soaked in chemicals or water like the vast majority of scallops on the market, and they are landed in small coastal Maine harbors the same day they are caught.

Scallops come right off the boat with only minimal sorting, so the size will vary, but plan on getting roughly 18 to a pound.

Scallops are flash frozen to ensure they taste as fresh as the day they were harvested. Each pound is labeled with the name of the fisherman who caught them, the name of his boat, the area they were harvested and the date of harvest.

    Cooking Tips

When you receive your raw, frozen scallops, store in freezer. When you are ready to eat them, thaw under refrigeration until fully thawed (approximately 16 hours) before preparing.

    Here's our super-simple recipe for pan-seared scallops:

    • Get a heavy bottomed-pan nice and hot.  We usually use cast iron and put it over high heat.
    • When pan is hot, add a thin layer of coconut oil or a mixture of butter and olive oil. Don't use straight butter - the smoking point is too low so you'll set off the fire alarms!
    • Pat your scallops dry (they have a natural moisture even when totally "dry"), season with salt and/or pepper and place in the pan.  Make sure there's at least an inch between your scallops.  If you crowd the pan, they'll steam.
    • Cook for about a minute on the first side.  Then use tongs to look at the side that's been against the pan.  If it's nice and brown, flip it.  If it's not, put it back and wait until it is.
    • They should cook for between one and two minutes on the first side, and a little less on the other side, depending on how big they are and how hot your pan is.
    • DONE!
